The Bill To Enact The Law Of The Child Act (2009)

The Need for a New Child Law: The children noted that the existing laws were scattered all over the statute books, too old and overtaken by events. The laws do not conform to the standards and requirements of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child as well as other international best practices. There is thus a need to have a consolidated law dealing with matters relating to children. The children noted the progressive elements in the Bill:-
